Good morning nvidia, holidays, and more…

Got up early this morning to receive a package: the GTX260 arrived!!!

I gotta say this card is pretty good, its actually very silent when doing normal things on the computer, with the fan at 40%. But in this rather imperfect world, I found out a lot of the 200 series get a rather small buzzing noise when its on a higher load, due to certain parts on the card or something, and that it possibly goes away as you use the card more. But at least I seem to be gaming without any problems and don’t really hear it either, though I know its there when the case is open and volume is low.

And also my last paper was done on Tuesday morning. Wasn’t a bad close I suppose, it was possibly the easiest level 3 paper I’ve had so far in my opinion. Which means I’m officially on holiday!! Time to start massive cleaning operations around the house….

Finished tomb raider underworld as well. It was rather short actually, but nevertheless it was quite enjoyable for me, but I must say it was a rather buggy game, with one major bug causing me to restart my save, but that was right at the start of the game, thank goodness. Onto RA3 and DS!

IGN has released their PoP review. It seems to be looking good, and I just might get it on x360 rather than pc, seems more enjoyable on it. And might I say ubisoft on pc lately has been buggy as hell thanks to their focus on consoles nowadays.

And looks like I’ll be stocking some new magic equipment soon with special holidays sales! But probably won’t be ordering until late Dec. Maybe I should go brush up some skills to get ready. And now time to eat lunch and watch some random anime/drama/manga…..

And holiday season draws closer…

And finally the third exam is done, one more left next Tuesday. And looks like I wasn’t alone in finding the previous exam difficult, looks like the lecturer is having some issues and must be taking it all out on his students, as reports claim his part in another subject was also one pain in the arse.

Anyways, as holidays approach, it is one colourful holiday for gamers. So many games to play! Here’s my list of recommended games to play, as well as recently completed ones:

Completed:

• Far Cry 2
• Call of Duty 5 – yes, i couldn’t hold back and finished it. On veteran too
• Crysis Warhead, in case you haven’t had the time for it yet

To complete:

• Red alert 3
• Dead space
• Tomb Raider Underworld
• Gears of war 2 (though its stuck in hk at the moment…family bringing back in december)

And to possibly play if i decide to invest in them:

• Prince of persia
• Saints row 2

And I guess that’s it for the games! Got a lot of anime and drama to watch too! Been behind due to the exams T_T. Oh and I’ve decided I’ll probably go for a XFX GTX260..the standard one, which will obviously be more than enough for my silly 17″ screen =P. Sigh I just hope I can rid myself of the 4870 properly without losing too much. But nothing compared to failing a subject in uni and having to pay the fees for it again…now that I think about it, thats way more waste of money.

EDIT: maybe getting the galaxy 216 SP 260 instead. Gotta get my worth and level of what i deserved.

Quick update…

A quick update amidst my exams. Got two down two to go, one tomorrow and one next Tuesday. Sigh I hope I did ok for derivatives, the paper was really hard, first time I’ve walked out of the exam hall in such despair knowing that I may fail. As opposed to the times when I failed for accounting….its like screw this shit…but this time it’s a finance core subject…no joking matter.

In other news, the so called beast in my room better known as a computer is flawed. It’s like a beast without its heart. The graphics cards is defected for sure, many thanks to acidzburns for helping me out with this issue amongst the stressful times. And having emailed MSY the most they can do for me is send it for RMA, and only “MAYBE” gimme a replacement card. Now you know why their prices are so cheap, just make money and screw customer service. At this rate I’ll have to buy a new card again, might go for a GTX260, and pray I get compensated somehow from the RMA, or if given a replacement card, I’ll sell it. Enough of ATI for me, haven’t got anything good outta them from my side of experiences.

I’m fighting WWII with Jack Bauer!! – COD:WW First Impressions

Actually not really, it’s just that Kiefer Sutherland happens to be voicing one of the soldiers on your team, so yeah, for those 24 fans, you just might feel you’re fighting a war with him. But back on topic, here’s my first impressions of COD: World at War.

It’s very clear that this game has continued using the COD: Modern Warfare engine, and probably has built some improvements upon it. Everything feels very COD-ish, the layout of objectives, the movement style, the epic immersiveness etc. I have to say it’s exactly what I’ve been looking forward to, in a good sense. For those who agree in saying that COD:MW had nice epic fights, this is exactly it, except a la WW2, and the main focus this time is against the Japanese. Sound, graphics, gameplay, everything feels solid from finishing the first introductory level.

Unfortunately exams are starting, though I still gotta wait one more week till my first one, but I doubt I’ll be touching any of my latest games including this one. I just have to say this game has met my expectations, and I hope that opinion stays throughout when I play it in the future.
